In addition to archery and marine, many other sporting goods markets have come to depend on Gordon Composites for superior, long-lasting performance. The key benefits from Gordon Composites are high strength and stiffness combined with extreme fatigue resistance.
One of the company’s earliest sports and recreation applications was diving boards for southern California swimming pools. Gordon no longer makes the boards but does make durable composite springs for a leading board manufacturer.
Gordon Composites has been powering archery equipment since
the early 1950s when the company developed a process for strengthening
bows. Gordon quickly moved on from that early effort and developed composite
processes that led to today’s modern bows with highly powerful and dependable limbs.
In the mid 1970s, Gordon Composites was approached by a
leading ski manufacturer in search of a domestic supplier for unidirectional
fiber reinforcement for their snow ski production. The result was a many-year
relationship that had Gordon Composites powering the ski company’s most advanced products.
Other applications in sports and recreation include snow
boards and skate boards, dog sleds, pogo sticks, guitars and drum equipment.
